Hi readers, it is possible to stop most of your junk mail. I will admit, sometimes it is impossible to reach out to certain companies who sell your name as they aren’t actually sending you the unwanted mail.

This article has great tips and besides the National Do Not Call Registry, you can visit the 3 sites below for the National Do Not Mail lists. There is a fee for one of them.

Then collect unwanted mail and pick up the phone and call the toll free or long- distance number (should be free with your cell phone) and ask to be removed. You can also mail back to the company in their postage paid envelope and ask to be removed. I’ve done this for my Mom and it really works! Also search online for Opt-Out forms and many companies are listed in the link below to help you remove yourself from their unwanted mail. Catalog Choice is a free service to help you opt out.

If you want to prevent getting unwanted mail in the first place, don’t sign up for catalogs. Go paperless when given the option. Tell your credit card companies you don’t want your name shared through their “affiliate marketing” department. And be cautious about signing up for free rewards cards as you might be bombarded with more marketing offers that don’t interest you.

It does take time to rid yourself of unwanted mail, but it will pay out in the long run when you feel good about not getting so much junk mail daily. You’re doing your part to save the planet! And not have as much mail to tackle which helps with staying organized!
